RENOVATION WEARE GIFFARD - Hyford House

In 2010, WDY Construction undertook a large refurbishment project for a property in Weare Giffard. The house had not been updated since the 1980s. The comprehensive overhaul included extensive interior and exterior work, transforming the outdated house into a modern, functional home.

The project began with a complete rewiring of the electrics and the installation of a new central heating system, addressing the absence of adequate heating. An extension was constructed to create a utility room, enhancing the home’s functionality, and the entire house was reboarded and plastered. This provided a fresh, modern finish, and created a more comfortable, inviting living space.

A significant modification involved installing a contemporary wood-burning stove in the living room, adding both warmth and aesthetic appeal. Additionally, a wall in the kitchen was removed to create an open-plan kitchen and dining area, fostering a more spacious and connected living environment.

Outside, our team got to work constructing a brick-paved driveway, expanding parking capacity from one car to multiple vehicles. In the rear garden, a retaining wall was built to divide the steeply graded garden and create a level patio area and large lawn. This transformation turned the previously impractical garden into a versatile and attractive outdoor space for relaxing and socialising.

WDY Construction’s expertise in extensions and renovations ensured the successful completion of this comprehensive project, delivering a modern, functional, and aesthetically pleasing home.
